2000 Honda Shadow running problems?

Like the first guy said, it could be a lot of things. My guess would be something to do with carburetion, but, I'd start with the simple things first. How about some fresh plugs and a good look at the air filter.

It could be a number of things. Make sure it has good gas, and a fresh sparkplug to start with. "Thats mandoe". Next, check plug wires for cracks and dryness(crusty hard). I could go on with things to check, but one last thing to check, if your qualified to do so is, carb float height. That drastically has a effect on what your describing.

Go for the simplest, cheapest fix, first.
That bike has an in-line fuel filter. See if it needs replaced. It may be starving the engine for fuel when the throttle is opened.
Happened with a friend's Sportster.

A friends honda shadow is for sale. at full throttle the motor chokes up like its being starved of fuel. Im thinkin its the carburetor. hes practically giving me the bike. any ideas on what else the problem might be? just wanna know what i might be getting into. thanks for the help
