This morning I turned on my car and the speedometer jumped up to 20 mph. I have never switched gauges or anything. The check engine light does NOT come on. That makes me believe that it's not the VSS but instead the Speedometer.
After I let it idle for a while it goes back to normal. I drove it 15 miles, starting it 3 different times and it worked normal. Just when I got near home and was going into 2nd gear the speedometer started to stick at 20. I let it idle for about 3 minutes and when I checked it was back down to 0 mph.
It is an automatic 2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe.
And how much would a new speedometer or what part you think it is cost to buy and to have a mechanic repair it.
