2000 ford taurus, I need to know the name of a part on the top of the engine?

the part I need the name over sit on top of the engine and the air filter hose goes on I think the EGR is bolt on to it. It sit where the carb on a older model would sit. When standing in front of the car there is spark plugs and this piece sit between the fire wall and plugs.

How hard is it to replace this part
 
The real question here is this:

If you don't know what the part is, how, exactly, have you determined that it needs to be replaced?

At any rate, if you're gonna try doing it yourself, you should buy the Factory Service Manual for that particular car. FSMs are way better than those manuals you find at the auto parts stores. You can get used ones on eBay, or even on CD-rom or DVD-rom if you look around on the Web.
