2000 Ford Focus Tail/Dash light problem?

When you turn on the head lights they come on but you have no tail lights or dash lights. I have checked the fuses and tried replacing the light switch. Neither worked. any ideas?
 
check both fuse boxes, the one under the dash and the one out under the hood. if that doesn't work you prob have a dead short somewhere
