Check engine light is on,car runs just fine when you are driving/accelerating but when at an idle the car studders and occasionally will die. I have ran diagnostic check on it and it comes back "BANK 1 LEAN" well the guy at Advance said it is likely from carbon build up said to try putting some additive in the fuel and drive it hard to clean it out.....this has not worked. Any ideas?

you very well could have a bad o2 sensor sending the ecm the info to lean out the fuel mix. so when you are sitting still or getting ready to take off it stumbles and dies. I have a 1998 taurus and having to replace all 4 of mine. I have been thru the entire fuel delivery system and the electronic part of the air delivery system. If the o2 sensors don't work for me Ford told me the ecm may need to be updated and have the fuel program remapped. sounds like you have the same problem

tell you what you can try and it fixes my problem. fill your tank with half 93 octane and then find a station that has E85 the ethanol gas and top it off with that. its hell to get it started in the morning but once it runs my problems go away and it cleans the carbon out really quick. its like 105 octane rating. but it will set off the light again with the same code. but it wont stumble and stall. if yours clears up after doing this look at replacing your o2s. rockauto.com has them the cheapest

Hi The throttle body and idle solenoid needs cleaning. You can buy a can of it at the auto stores. Clean the solenoid first, (it has a few wires going to it and easy to remove) then follow the instructions on the can.
