2000 dodge durango has light smoke from vents when vehicle warms up.Even with

If it smells sweet then it's the heater core.
The air that cycles into the heater core assy. is dran in from the base of the windshield.
Nothing other than the air outside the vehicle can be drawn into the heater core ductwork.

If it smells sweet then I suspect you have a faulty heater core.
