it major engine damage? when the motor is cold it makes a knocking sound at startup, sounds like a diesel... is it the pistons slapping, a rod, or what, oil pump maybe??
just maybe a good tune up when was th elast time it had it done... try a bottle of fuel treatment and get a tune up replace all the filters stop any shop and ask them to listen
hi... what oil viscusity do you use? i hope it is a 5w-30 if you are in california.. is there oil pressure the moment it starts? is the oil level correct? if all above is ok,,and you still have this noise at start ups.. then its telling you the engine is on its way to heaven.
