2000 Camaro CD player ?

I've got some troubles with the CD player in my car. we got it used but there was already a CD in the CD player so it was working. i don't know whats wrong with it when i put my CD in and press the CD button nothing happens the eject button works but the CD won't play. Maybe I'm putting the CD in wrong or in the wrong spot?
I really just want my ipod music in my car without a huge overhaul so if you have an idea to help with that thanks!
also its atheft deterrentt Stereo if that makes a difference.
 
Does your car also have a cassette player? There are these things you put in the cassette player for about 5 bucks that you can hook up to a cd player/mp3 player/iPod and it'll play the music through that. You can do that for your ipod music.
