When I start the car, it accelerates for a minute then it stops, pressing the pedal causes the engine to rev up but no acceleration.

When I shut the car off and immediately back on to drive, it will not accelerate, however when I leave the car off for a few minutes, it will accelerate for about a minute until the problem repeats itself.

Would anyone know the cause of this? It was brought to a mechanic who said it was a transmission issue, and I would like to know the extent of the repair if it is the transmission.

Thanks.

Take it to a trans shop and have them test drive it. If they can't tell by a road test they will pressure test it and let you know the extent of the problem. From my experience your tranny reqires overhaul. Bob
