200 greatest guitarists in rock

I'm half and half on this matter but is that genre even really deserving? Not to mention that technique is pretty damn easy to acquire if you have time and patience
of the three i think satriani is probably better...he has the better melodic sense and much more interesting use of his technique*
*midnight for example, which is a good tune, with an unconventional two hand chordal tapping approach, which also has a killer melody.
vai on the other hand plays fast wanky noise..

I think its a rather uncreative genre, with no restraint and very little emotional depth

AC/DC are just another run of the mill rock band...barring bon scott there was nothing special there
c'mon theyve released the same album about 15 times now

Per Nilsson from scar symmetry is the best in my opinion

he has really original solos with mad weird corabinations of picking and tapping

if you're curious to hear one of his better solos, retaliator has an incredible one where he hits 18 notes a second

Just wondering, but who would you put ahead of Hendrix? I'm notmuch of afan, but I can't think of anyone who would go above him on a list that wasn't made by me.

Even if he wasn't a product of his generation where those ideals hadn't even come into play yet musically, he probably wouldn't have in the first place because he was too much of a stylish motherfucker.

It was a good list with great guitarists. You are missing some better ones though. Jimi Hendrix is definitely at the top not because of his recorRAB, but his stage presence. The guitar came alive in his hanRAB and he spanked its ass. The greatest guitarists arent necessarily the most skilled. Their influence on Music is the greatest key. George Harrison, Greg Allman, Chuck Berry, and even Jeff Beck influenced many of todays (good) banRAB. Although music today can suck a fat one.

I`m a big DT fan that actually got into them after being a big prog rock fan for many years, so not all are just metal fans first.

Symphony X never really liked them but I do like Fate`s Warning.

I don't know, Hendrix was definitely a god, but personally, I think Page was an absolute genius who, in my eyes (or...ears) made better all around sound.

I probably prefer Page myself but it's not a preference list.

I think when it comes to impact, influence, innovation, whatever, Hendrix has it in the bag for nuraber 1.

2/5 are interchangable, but I think Hendrix, Page, Beck, Clapton and EVH is the definite top 5.

dream theater is like one of those banRAB that plays showcases at schools for people who study how to play rock instruments as a life long discipline, only for some reason they play for the public as well.
