Well, as far as the example you posted (antenna and switch combinations)...
...several years ago, I wanted to understand and install my own Dish system.
I started out by studying all the .PDF manuals on the Dish web site.
Then, through searching, I found other web sites where people had put together very complicated combinations of equipment.
(Antenna, LNB, and switches)
Some of the terminology was confusing, and I struggled to get a handle on it.
By the time I put up my first system, I actually knew what I was doing.
As far as aiming them goes, I've tried many of the suggested methods in original Dish, BEV, and DirecTV install manuals.
If you actually follow the written instructions, it's not too difficult.
That's why I am always amazed at the troubles people seem to have.
By paying close attention to good ideas, and experimenting, I've come up with my own techniques that seem to work well.
And in this thread, I guess I've spoken up quite a bit to help others find their way in the dark.
