2 15" mtx thunder 6000s have to much distortion or somethin?

I have them 2 subs and I have one of them sony xplod 1200w amps.. Its the 2002gtr.. Its only 500 rms so eac sub is gettin 600rms peice so each sub is gettin 250 roughly.. Why does it sound over pwered? The bass boost is all the way down and the gain isnt even up all the way.. The speaker wire is thin but is that a pproblem? It dont sound like its cathcin as many highs and the lows dont seem as booming as the should i mean its mtx right.. Can someone give me all specs and important things i need to know in setting up my amp and Just all things in general that you might think seems wrong or i need to do.. I can bridge my amp but the subs are in two outputs and the amp is the same right now.. Can i bridge it a certain way? Anything?
 
If you have a cheap cd player, a better brand one would probably help a lot and don't max out the bass setting on your deck either, it will cause distortion from all speakers....one thing to check would be the positive and negative connections from your subs all the way to your amp, if you have one wire hooked up wrong it will sound like sh*t...follow this wiring diagram if you have the 4ohm voice coils------http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2SVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg--------and if you have the 8 ohm voice coils------http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2SVC_8-ohm_2ch.jpg-----also these subs are only 300rms each so you are giving them about 200 rms each if you wire it like the sites above,
and yes mtx is known for good bass but these subs are not the very good subs if you want to be really loud and clear, i'd go with the mtx 7500 subwoofers or better. and a lot better amp to power them.
