1999 HONDA CR-V knocking when doing sharp turns. What could it be?

162k miles. Buying it from a private party. Do you thing $3000 is a good price? Knocking and clicking coming from around wheels not engine. Other than that engine and interior seem to be well maintained by owner.
...the knocking and clicking is not from the engine, its from around the wheels when tight turning.

Im assuming its coming from the front of the car. Your CV joints need to be replaced. They make clicking noises when your turning. The CV joints are the axles that move your car. You can easily inspect them, they connect the engine/tranny to the wheels. The boots on them will most likely be torn with grease coming out. Ask around different repair shops to see how much this will be to repair and then factor that into your price.

Outer CV joints on the axles are shot - figure around $500 per side to have them fixed unless you are able to DIY in which case the parts run around $150 per side.

its the CV joints...
which stands for Constant-velocity joints, allow a rotating shaft to transmit power through a variable angle joint, probably about $200 - $400US for both front and probably about the same to fit them...
