1999 ford taurus motor is making a single knocking noise.?

hello to all. i bought a 99 taurus that i was told needed a new oil pump. i changed the oil pump, lifters, main barriering, and the rod barriering. the car is still making a tapping noise that gets louder when i press the gas but dies down when im going at a good speed. it did go away for a day or so but came back. i was told that if i got the oil Sensor set to a 38 degree angle that it will stop the knocking. is this true? if not what should i try next? thanks
