I was driving down the street doing about 35mph. The car cut off and the oil exloped out of the dipstick. The reason I know where the oil came from is because I drifted to a safe place and looked under the hood. The car will not start. I assume that it is engine problems. should I replace the engine or should I sell it for parts or is there any thing else that I can do that will cost less than 500 dollars. Plz Help

i have to agree with the first answer given to you. as a mechanic it sounds as if your engine said its final goodbye. the resale value on that vehicle is not very good as it has a high maintenance rating and the transmissions go before there time. ironically ur engine was the first to say goodnight here. if you dont have space, offload this headache. if you DO have space, "part out" the car. meaning sell the car where it is in parts. post your ad as "parting out 1999 intrepid". people will come and buy a door/trunk lid/seats/windshield/tranny<---great money there, and so on. when you think youve made enough money, and you will over time, have it hauled away. hope this was somewhat helpful.

sell the car. when large amonts of oil come out the dipstick it is either way too full or major engine damage has occurred

sorry to hear about your troubles

Seriously, do not put any significant money into this vehicle. As well as being a pain in the a** to work on, the Mitsu engine is an interference engine and it sounds like it has put itself out to pasture.
