here is a shot in the dark, do you have enough fuel pressure? Idle air control valve is it ok? are the o2 sensors working properly, they could be telling the engine to lean way out. but having to put jumper cables to get it to start with a new or good battery, hmmm is the alternator good? when they go bad i have seen where they start throwing AC current instead of DC, which will to say the least screw a battery up and make your car act really weird, and the car will shut down to protect itself.. if you have a spare battery i would change them out and see if it starts on its own first without jumping. if it was putting out AC current it may have fried one of the cells but still gives you a good 12 volt reading on a battery tester.
if it starts with a diffrent battery then i would look at the alternator. if not you got me stumpped dude. Imean the Ac current can really mess up the electronics on a car, starters, ecm, and god only knows what else.
