...Thermostat. What's next to check? So in the last few months I have replaced the Radiator, all was well for a while, then the thing started running hot again (between the 220 and 260 line). Then day by day it was creeping closer and closer to 260. Replaced the Water Pump and Thermostat, all seemed well for a week or so. Now the thing is running hot again (close to 260), When on freeway the thing runs good (round 220) but as soon as I get into stop and go traffic it approaches overheat within 10 minutes. Using the heater cools it off but aside from that I am stuck. What do I check next?

Pressurize the rad, and pressure test your rad cap and make shure the rad cap is the recommened pressure size, also check all your coolent lines etc. Most importantly check and make shure your time-ing is set at 18 inches psi on a vacume guage. It sounds most likely your time-ing is out from the sound of it,but it is also equaly important to do the other checks. There are other checks that you can do by pressurize-ing you system for eg: cracked or broken heads, gaskets, cracked block etc. There is alot more to it then you realize.

Make sure that you have the fan shroud in place - they are very important. Also check the fan clutch. It sounds to me like the oil has leaked out and is not locking up properly.
