1999 chrysler town and country van...?

sporadically when I put the vehicle into drive or reverse from the parked position it will either do the opposite or it will do nothing,when it is supposed to be in motion.what is causing this and what can I do when it happens?

Check your trans fluid level. If it's low get to a shop to find and repair the leak before you do some serious damage
