1999 Chrysler T&C steering locked going around curb, so I stopped, turned off, backed

up and it was fine!!? My husband and bro-in-law drove it afterwards and it did fine for them!? No squeaking, difficult turning, locking up..... nothing? I have a 9 month old and I am 5 months pregnant so I am afraid something like this could happen when my son is in the car or when I am on the expressway... It scared me... thus I am borrowing someone else's car for now!!
I was going around curb slowly in a parking lot (maybe 15mph) and suddenly the steering became hard to turn and then it just locked up. I slammed on the brakes and turned off the van. I turned it back on, backed up and presto... it drove fine from there. Some people say it could be the belt.... anyone have any idea???
 
Have the wheels and tires been changed? Are they oversized? It sounded to me like something hung up momentarily. It just needs a physical inspection of the p/s fluid, rack and pinion assembly, and the steering system in general.
