i have a 1999 cavalier that over heats im not sure exactlly whats wrong with it it will run for a lil then stal out and if it dont stal out and u drive it it over heats with in less the a quarter mile

If it overheats that quickly, then your probably out of coolant. Coolant either leaks externally. (leaving driveway wet spots, or puddles) or it gets burned internally, (from a cracked head, head gasket, cracked block.) So if you should add coolant to it (or have a mechanic do it and see what they say)

Also, if the coolant level is fine (which i doubt) then it is the thermostat for sure, or a water pump that isn't working.

If the car stalls out, then it is most likely something a little more serious like a cracked block, or cylinder wall, or blown head gasket or something like that.
