i started to drive my car today and notice that the temperature gauge did not start at the "cold" position; it immediately jumped to the middle reading. I have checked the radiator fluid, the radiator hoses, the fans come on when the a/c is on and when the car is in idle the fan turns on for about 5 sec and off again, it does this about every other min. The engine oil is good, i don't know where the thermostat is to check if it is stuck, but i did change the timing and water pump not too long ago. basically when i am driving the gauge fluctuates from the hot position at idle to the middle, and when i am at idle it goes back to below the hot. i am all out of ideas, what can it be?
