1998 toyota corolla front end?

i bought a toyota corolla after some time i started to hear somthing knocking and banging around in the wheel area. i went to a garage was told your front struts are proberly gone. so i replaced them the car rides better but the same noise is still there no change. when i go over bumps something not right. i do know its not the brakes or the sway bar and theres nothing bang around under there i think it might have somthing to do with the axle.
 
Sounds like the upper strut mounts (also called bearing plates) I'm surprised the shop didn't tell you about them. Now you'll have to pay the same amount again for labor to R+R the struts.
 
it could also be your wheel bearings. put your car on axle stands and check if theres any wobble in the wheels. you can jack it up but be very very careful.
