1998 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 999 Auto Trans. everything else on drivetrain is stock. From idle to about 2000 rpm runs very rough. Also get heavy exhaust smell from rear only while this is happening (Back window stays out all the time). If accelerator is pushed far enough the power comes on and the engine smooths out, until it goes back under approx. 2000 rpm. Also, the vehicle has approx. 125,000 miles and has otherwise ran very good. Could it be Crankshaft Position Sensor? Changed this a few months ago and the engine ran very smoothly for a while.
