I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-door 4x4.
Every so often, it won't start. It doesn't even attempt to start.
You click the key over and there is nothing. It doesn't turn over, try to fire, just a click and nothing. I actually have to open the hood and start it manually by connecting the starter's RC cable to the power cables on the thing. That is a very difficult task, because you have to connect the RC cable to TWO different points, one point actually spins the starter and the other point pushes out the starter's gear. It takes a second, but it fires right up. After this, it generally will start up for the rest of the day, with the exception of once or twice.
Does anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this?
It has the 4.0L I6, in case anyone was wondering.
