OK My Honda Civic ex coupe just went in the shop after I had experienced some stuttering of the engine, out of nowhere of course.
The check engine codes were P0300, P0303, P0304, and P1399. (Cylinder 3 and 4 misfire, Random multiple misfire, and Misfire in any cylinder.
The shop I just took it to is a reputable company, but that says nothing to me at all, just because.
They have ruled out the spark plugs, alternator, exhaust, spark plug wires, cap & rotor, distributor, and any contaminants in the fuel, and also they checked the timing belt. Nope, none of those are the problem, and they even drained any fuel from the engine and let it dry. They did replace the Cap and Roater with new, even though it wasn't needed.
They are saying that the problem is that my "Valves" have "Gunk" on them.
I got it pressure tested, and from that they said that a normal pressure should be about 185, but the pressure test of my engine came out to only 100.
Well, I would drive my car with the BG 44k liquid they told me to use, but it stutters way too much, and I'm afraid it will strain my engine too much if I drive it. They told me to put 1 bottle of 44k in with a half tank of gas and drive it to 1/8 tank, then to repeat that the same way. I've been revving it steady between roughly 2k rmp's and 3.5k rpm's without driving it. Just sitting still.
Please help me. I am trying to figure out what else this might be, or how to fix it. I really do need some serious help. I am almost broke and I need a reliable car. If you have experienced this yourself, please please help me and tell me what went wrong with yours. Please do not tell me to go get another car. This isn't a joke.
I don't remember them telling me if they checked the injectors for sure, but I will be.
For your information for thought: The cylinders are automatically timed by the car's computer, because it just does, because that's what you get in 1998 car's of that make.
Thanks.
P.S.
The first go-around of fixings was when they changed out the cap and roater. They told me that "It is fixed. Only $150 or so for the parts and labor". I was so happy, but was downed afterwards, as I found out that the problem was never fixed, that it was the same problem showing its self, so they never did rev my engine to see what I was talking about.
This is why I said that "Reputable Company" doesn't mean anything to me.
Sorry, adding more details here. I forgot to mention that YES I did put the BG 44k in while revving it. Anyways please read the entire thing over again and re-think please please please.
