How long do you estimate a 1998 Ford Mustang will last? I was given the car by my mother last year. We drove it cross country & it did fine. At the time, it had 48,000 miles on it. It now has 60,000 miles on it. We plan to drive it cross country again for a move but everyone thinks its unsafe given how old the car is! However, as said, the car JUST hit 60,000 miles on it. As a matter of fact, the car will be going in for its 60,000 maintenance next week. Im sure they will let me know of any problems, if any. My ? to you, how long do cars engines last. The car engine IS 12 1/2 years old despite the fact it only has 60,000. Will it last a lot longer? Do things have to be replaced given the engine is so old? The car has a GREAT history of maintenance & being taken care of by mom mother! Tanks on advance!
Asking b/c my father is pushing the fact we need a new car b/c since it is so old, despite the low mileage, he feels it is not reliable. I however disagree but then again, I do not know anything about cars so there is a chance I am wrong. I have the money for a new car but I ENJOY no car payment & a $50 a month insurance payment! hehe
