I have a 1998 Ford Escort that's in interesting shape. I just had the exhaust replaced by a place that decided not to charge me for a brand new cat converter, but customize the back end of it because it was otherwise in good shape. Most of the front-end axle stuff was replaced recently too. Now after long trips, like 3 hours or more worth of driving, my car will start up, but start up rough, with lots of chugging. If I let it go for 30-60 seconds, it will catch and be fine again. Sometimes I have to turn it off, then restart it and it will catch fine. Lots of vibration and chugging noise during these rough starts, but it does catch fine after a short amount of time or a new start. I've noticed a bit of vibration and "almost chugging" when I'm going around 40-50 mph rarely (when this Ford Escort is low in RPM - probably 4th or 5th gear). I get nervous about starting because I'm hoping for the best, but the car starts fine 95% of the time. Just put in Engine Restorant and Gumout Injector Cleaner today hoping for good results, but not sure about all of this. I'm very good with getting the 3000 mile oil changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
