I replaced the ball joint on the left side, car is pulling to the right, wonder do i need to get a front end alignment, or should I replace the ball joints on the right?
Tire pressures even?
Front tire tread depths even?
A ball joint on a contour is a fixed part, no need for alignment after replacing but who's to say the alignment isn't already out of spec.
Have the front end checked its usually cheaper then throwing parts at it. Get the inspection done and fix it yourself if you want but it will save you alot of time and aggravation.
Ugh common sense would be to check the front end for movement and replace faulty parts, then have it aligned. Tires need to be checked and properly inflated as well.

did the car pull to the right before the balljoint? if not it will need a alignment. also it could be a tire pull. try swaping front tires side to side and see if the car pulls the other way. if it does, you need new tires

When you replace the ball joint you need to do the alignment however, you right ball joint may be faulty too. I would replace the right ball joint then do the alignment.
