Try checking the power steering fluid sounds like it is low or their is air in the system you can make a homemade stethoscope to listen to the various things under your hood use a wooden broom handle about 2 feet long place one end on the pump and put your ear on the other end and listen if it is whinig you will hear it you can also use it on the alternator or anything else it will reach but be careful on a running engine dont hit the v belt or any other moving parts
