I have a 1998 cadillac (120, 000) miles. I am concerned that the water pump is at the end of it's life, because most other water pumps last about 75,000 miles. What I noticed is that the water pump is
not a typical water pump. It looks like a small can and goes inside a cover and has separate belt for it. Is it time to change it and is it a challenge ? If I do this I plan to
1) change the water pump
2) change the 4 gaskets (on the water pump cover)
3) new belt
4) new bearing on the wheel of the tensioner
Any advice is appreciated... ( note I do work on cars, but have never came across this type of water pump)
