I found a new car, 1997 Mazda 626 ES V6 automatic transmission, that even when in overdrive hits about 4x1000 rpm's going about 70-75mph. Now the man selling the car had to replace some of the major engine components like the head gasket and most of the wires. He also mentioned that the computer was re-set. When in drive the engine hits high revs, abnormal for a normal V6 engine that I have witnessed, but normal for more like a four cylinder. One person told me not to worry, but I am slightly concerned that a V6 engine is not supposed to be pulling that high RPM in overdrive if indeed all 6 cylinders are in gear. Am I wrong? Can anyone shed light on this car?
PS- It is automatic, it is a V6 and it is driving and shifting fine, just high rpms.
