I am working on replacing the forks on my 1997 Kawasaki KE 100.
I followed the Haynes service manual, which has has the UK versions of my bike also. I, took the bolt off the top of the fork, took out the spring, drained the oil took the "circlip" and the "back-up washer" out, exposing the seal.
My service manual says to "...pull the stanchion sharply out of the lower leg. Several hard tugs may be necessary before the slide hammer action of the bushes extracts the oil seal from the lower leg."
I did this many times, but it is not coming out! I can see that there is a rod or something like that down in the fork. Do I need to remove that? Please give me some information.
