1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Rear window wiper problem?

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The rear window wiper is not working properly. At first, just the intermittent delay did not work properly. The delay between wipes was extremely long and not adjustable. Now, when I turn the rear wiper on, the wiper moves a small amount. If I continue to move the wiper switch between the on off positions quickly the wiper will eventually make a full pass of the rear window. Do I need to replace the rear wiper switch or something else?
