My 1997 Ford Ranger idles like it has a high performance cam in it. I have changed the plugs, wires, air filter, checked the vacuum lines and still the engine idles rough but runs good once you get it out on the road. I have suspected the egr valve but the bolts that hold it in are very rusty and I am unable to easily remove it if at all. Is there a way to check the egr valve without taking it off? Any other possible opinions? Oh and the old girl has 211,000 miles on her! Thanks!
