1997 Ford Explorer Exhaust?

I've had my Ford for almost 3 years and I'm tired how little noise it makes. It's a v6 engine with headers coming out both sides that lead to a single pipe out the back. I've heard about glass packs, drilling a hole in the baffle, straightpiping, and getting new exhaust altogether. Im pretty tight on money right now with college and all. I don't want it to be illegally loud, but I don't want it to be quiet like it is now. Can anyone give me a suggestion on which would sound best, and why?
 
I have heard many 4.0 liters that had different exhaust setups and they all sounded like sh*t. My neighbor has a Mustang with the 4.0 liter, duel exhaust, and it sounds like the 4.6 v8! He is not sure what it has for a setup but if you want some rumble, go with a Turbo muffler with duel or run a glass pack with a different tip. Ask around and see. I have a 2.9 liter with glass pack and open chrome tip. Gives it a deep below. Good luck!!
