Hello, I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500, and it has a new (er) motor, transmission in it and I just got a used NP 231 D Transfer Case due to my going out, when I went to put it up to the transmission, the slip yokes slid together, but there was a half inch gap between the transmission and transfer case. I was told that the input shaft on the transfer case was too long and compared to my other case it is too long. I am starting to wonder if my transmission is not the same one that came from factory? Is there any way for me to tell what kind it is by looking at it? Thanks and by the way it has over drive....?
