I was driving my 1997 dodge neon dohc 5speed today when it started making a weird clanking noise from under the hood. I did not see the heat go up or anything and I always keep the fluid levels mantained. About 2 or 3 miles after this started, it suddenly got very loud and then the car shut offf while I was driving. I immediately pulled over of course and when I got out of the car noticed a big trail of anitfreeze leading to my car with the remainder of my antifreeze pouring out from the back left (if you were looking under the hood) side of the engine. I immediately thought 'oh Water Pump', but when I tried to start it to move it over real quick it made the worst clanking noise ever so I obviously shut it down right off. I have no idea why it is making that noise, also I have had a water pump go on me before and it didn't make a sound. So my question is what the heck is going on and what do you guys think it could be? Please help Thanks!!!!
