1997 Buick Century (what should i do)?

i want to buy a 1997 Buick Century and i see that someone is selling one for $2900 with only 31,443 original miles but my family said tha its no good. should i take a chances this is my first car but the way is it suspicious that it only has 31,443 original miles.
