1996 jeep grand cherokee limited 4.0L egr valve?

Your Jeep shouldn't have an egr valve. In 1991 the 4.0 high output came out and one of the improvements on it involved a change in cam timing that eliminated the need for an egr valve.
 
All cars are different. I'm not sure where the egr valve is on yours. For this problem and any future problems you may have, should go to your local parts store and buy a Chilton's manual for you car. They cost about 20 dollars usually and they are very helpful. Well worth 20 bucks. There is also another one called Haynes. I don't like them so much but some people do. Chilton's are a little harder to find for some reason so if you can't find a Chilton, Haynes usually covers the basics.
