1996 Dodge Neon will start but stops automatically?

First time ever, yesterday my car quit running while I was driving, and when I tried to restart it, it started up fine, but then quits automatically after that..I did this about 3 times and it did the same thing every time, after about 10 min, I started it and finally got it home. What would cause the car to do this? Any ideas or suggestions?

Another question, for the last week, it has been blowing the fuse for my signal lights and my dash-board lights..one or the other..I can replace the fuse and it will blow out within 3 min...What causes this?and if its grounding out, how can I find where its at?

Thanks again for your help:) Have a nice day:)

Lights blowing... Check every light fixture on the car (headlamps, side markers tail light etc) for any moisture. A good indicator will be a foggy appearance or , if the fixture is clear like the headlamps, it will look like dew. If you see any signs that water is being trapped within the fixture that can cause the lamp not only to blow out, blow the fuse, but eventually rust out the electrical connections. Remedy for this is simple, vent out the fixture. drill a hole no bi ger than 1/8" on the lowest point of the fixture. Eventually it will air itself dry, parking facing the sun will help too. You may not even have a water problem, but it is always best to eliminate the easy stuff first. If you are wet and end up venting, remember to remove the bulbs that got wet and remove any moisture from the electrical connectors.
Your other problem may be a clogged fuel filter, when was it changed last.

The fuse blowing problem apparently does not keep the engine from eventually starting and running ok, so first fix the starting problem. A technician could easily hook up a spark tester to one of your plug wires to see if your losing ignition spark when the engine cranks ok, but won't start and run. The test can be done anywhere by one person. A plug wire is removed from any engine spark plug and then connected to the spark tester which has a metal grounding clip you clip to metal on the top of the engine. With the hood open, you peak through the lower edge of the hood to see the tester electrodes while you crank the engine. No spark? Maybe the ignition module is heating up and intermittently failing, especially if it doesn't happen when you first cold start the car.
