MY water pump failed and threw all of the radiator fluid out, the problem with this is the dodge neon single overhead cam 2.0 16 valve engine is it is an interference engine. This being said the water pump is driven by the timing belt, the timing belt froze up, but did not break. How can i check to see if the valves have been bent, or damaged by the pistons. The engine was rolled over 3 times after stall. And if the valves are fudged would it be a bad idea to put a motor in the car, i found a motor for $421.00 I keep getting mixed reveiws about this. I just put 450 dollars worth of tires on it, a paint job was in the process of getting done, and the car is in excellent shape, other than the motor. So how can i tell if the valves are ruined, and should i get another car or put a motor in my neon. Please help. All answers are appreciated...
It made a horrible sounding noise. Almost like a grinding noise. Does this noise mean that the pistons collided with the valves or could the noise have just been the water pump freezing up. Also the engine is a side ways engine are these kind of engines hard to put in/take out yourself.
