Can someone please help me? My 1996 chevy lumina, today i was going about 40 mph and all of a sudden the car jerked and revved when i stepped on the gas, i pulled over and the car seemed to jerk when changing gears, i let it sit for about 30 mins and when i drove it again, i start the engine and i hear a sound, i guess a whirring type, not usual for my car..and the car will move, when the sound stops, the car wont move, also, when i move the gear shift from P to R or D or any of the gears, nothing happens, usually i feel the gears shifting, but now nothing.
The filter hasnt been changed in at least 5 years, it was previously owned and the owner didnt take very good care of it. It has transmission fluid, but its dirty.
