I was driving and had a sudden loss of power and severe misfiring. The codes came back as EGR System Malfunction and Random Multiple Misfire. Shortly after that the A/C Blower Motor stopped running.
As far as the EGR worries:
I've replaced both the EGR Valve and Vacuum Solenoid (I am getting vacuum into the solenoid but not out). I am not sure if replacing those items is working, as driving it with the misfire can mess up a whole bunch of stuff and it may still have an O2 sensor issue or fouled plugs as well as an angry catalytic converter. The light is still on and flashing. When I slow to idle, it eventually stops flashing...but starts again when I start driving again.
I've replaced the OptiSpark Distributor several times in the past two years now.
They tell me that the No. 2 cylinder is showing 90# of compression but the one next to it is showing over 150#. Wondering if that has something to do with my failing systems.
On to the A/C....I removed the blower motor and put 12 volts to it directly from the battery and it spins. I checked the circuit at the connector and found that it has a good ground, but is only showing 1.5 volts. It is a digital display A/C controller. I was thinking it might be the relay. I'm really hoping it's not the controller. The system cools and if I put it on vent or pick up speed, you can just barely feel the cool air coming in. The display is showing that the fan is at "full speed" but alas, it is not. It does not work at any fan speed nor any setting (defrost, defog, etc.).
This car has 228,000 miles on it.
