there is a wire that runs from you dash to tranny for your speed normally there should be a box that it goes in to i would look around for a little box normally black on the tranny normally there in the middle

Take it back to who ever did the transmission swap and ask them to finish the job or as them why the wire is off and why the speedometer does not work.

the speedometer housing is on the top of the transmission on the passenger side you will see the housing and should see where the wire plugs in there is not much room so if you want to get a little dirty you might have enough room to get your arm in there and plug it in or just take it back and let them do it
