ok, my tumbler went out so the key just turns all the way and don't catch anything to start the car. everything else comes on but it just wont start. i bought a push button switch at auto zone for $5. hooked it up and nothing happened. i then hooked up jumper cables from my wifes car to the jeep and it started with the button. let it run for almost an hour and then shut it off. now it wont start again. batter is old, but has worked fine untill the key stopped working. what else could be wrong? battery is showing 10.8 v and when key is not in on position the button shows the same. when i switch the key to the on position the battery says same but button says 2.4 v and when i hit the button is drops to .5 v. i cant fig this out. why is it dropping volts when the key is on.
just read the button box and it say it can only handle 15 amps could that be causing it to do this. i think it is supposed to handle 30 amps, but not sure.
