1995 Ford Fiesta tickover problem?

Hi there, Iv got a 1995 ford fiesta azura and yesterday, just after starting the car, the revs would drop really low and the car would almost stall. Thought it was a little strange, but when i got going it was fine. Then i tried to start it last night and it stalled... now it wont start at all. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas what it might be.

Oh yeh, this car has no fuel injection.....
I was driving through quite deep puddles yesturday as well.... could be that maybe?
 
Idle air control valve dirty or worn out is most likely cause.
Try that first but if that does not work then there are loads of things that it could be from your description
