This car has been babied, serviced to the "T", has 168000 miles, fully loaded, and a new transmission with about 2500 miles on it. Here is the problem--- out of the blue the car felt like it was "missing" while driving it home [i say that b\c it has "felt" like that before and turned out to be a coil pack]. This time, when I got home [about 20miles of driving 55mph] i noticed engine noise around the back of the engine. The oil pressure is good, it has not ran hot, it has no blo-by, no white or blue smoke out the back, the plugs were in good shape, supercharger oil was level and servied last month, i put new pulleys on the idler and on the supercharger. A "friend" told me it could be the flexplate. However- if it were the flexplate would the car shake under acceleration? Also- I know what GM guys are thinking-- the intake gaskets, they have been replaced along with the head gaskets last year. There is no water leaking into the oil, nor oil into the water. I am fully stumped. I hate to tear this thing down, epecially since i know the history and have been driving the car myself. Any ideas, or suggestions that I am overlooking? I did drain the oil to look for metal shavings, and nothing just oil. Could it be the flexplate? If it were a rod or spun bearing wouldn't i lose oil pressure? Any and all help appreciated-- thank you in advance.
