be dead for 2 weeks hasent started since it died be replacing things slowly and testing stuff as i learn more

you say it has a spark therefore it must be a petrol engine so i would say that you have a fuel blockage probably in the carb but possibly the fuel filter

first thing is the engine light, if its been on forever like you say then why the h**l havent you goten it scanned? autozone does it for free.

Fuel pump problems. To see if you have a pump or crank position sensor bad do this, turn the key on and see if you hear the pump prime, if not use a can of starting fluid and have someone spray the fluid in the air cleaner while you start it, If it starts and then quits running when your partner stops spraying, YOUR PUMP IS BAD., or fuel filter is clogged, you should check the filter first since the fuel filter should be replaced EVERY 10-12 thousand miles. if you listen to the manual or dealer recommendations you will be replacing fuel pumps on a regular basis. and folks wonder why they go out.

Pumps are expensive and not easy to get to unless you have a DODGE then the filters are on the pump assembly IN THE TANK.
Now if the car doesn't start with the fluid. just sits there and cranks but wont fire, you prob have a crankshaft position sensor bad. That is what tells your coils and spark plugs to fire..

If the Check engine light is on get is scanned and then see what the code means. Alot of times people just guess and problems can look the same to the untrained eye, the codes will give you a direction to look in. Don't wait get it scanned.

With all crank/no start concerns, I start checking for spark. If I have spark, I go to fuel. If there is no spark, troubleshoot the ignition system. Check for power at the coil and see if it is pulsed when turning the engine over. If there is power, but it is not pulled low on the low side, it could be the igniter (ignition module) or the pick-up in the distributor.

fuel filter. if your pump is fine. and assuming you have gas in it. what happen is prob startin from the tank, u prob got dirty tank, and i'm guessin that the fuel filter is clogging but fuel is slowly getting through it, i bet you try to start it tomorrow it run for a min maybe then die again

You need To Check All Your Fluids. First. And If You Have Checked Basically Everything Else. See If You Have Gas. THen See A Mechanic.
