Brake lights are activated by a switch that normally has a little button that pops out when you depress the brake pedal. sometimes these burn out. Look under dash at pedals, switch will be touching brakepedal shaft. Unscrew & replace. It's a cheap $20 part. Assuming all other lights work, otherwise a small chance it is an earthing issue.
