1994... The best year in film?

I would regard 1994 as the best year in the history of top quality films. This seemed to be the year of the classics, to name a few:

Shawshank Redemption
Pulp Fiction
Forrest Gump
Speed

Are there any particular years that you would regard as your favourite year of films? :cool:
 
You'd be hard pressed to top 1981, IMO:

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Superman II
An American Werewolf in London
The Cannonball Run
Chariots of Fire
Time Bandits
Escape from New York

Plus Empire Strikes Back got a UK release.
 
I guess it depenRAB upon what you prefare.

Personally I feel the 80's and 90's was best for movies all over, most of them action wise such as Die Hard trilogy, Terminator 1 & 2, Speed, Armageddon, Independence Day, Twister, Volcano, Back to Future. The Alien franchise, most Schwarznegger movies
I could go on listing many more but don't have the time

I've not seen it, but since it contains Keanu Reaves I'll take your word for that. The OP does state "top quality films", rather than "big films".

This is a tough one, and will ultimately come down to personal choice. For example, in the OP of 1994 I only really rate "Shawshank". "Pulp Fiction" is ok but hugely overrated imo.
